Note that any amount of black was not allowed in ABA's American Bulldog Breed Standard. Their breed standard has since been altered to recognize black dogs as American Bulldogs, which some say is due to Casey Courtier, ABA's founder, mixing a pitbull into his line, which yielded black color.
